A Vehicle Of Love
A Vehicle Of Love
Ishvara:
The principles of Life, the truth, will set you free. So if you are not free, evidently you have not heard the truth.
The intellect has its interpretation of the truth. The intellect says, "Well, if it fits my belief, my religious upbringing, my system or structure, then it must be the truth, because it doesn't upset anything." However, according to such "truth," it is OK to bomb other people because they don't do what you want, it is OK for you to deny those in need, it is OK to be separate and isolated, and it is OK for you to be self-centered because the rest of humanity is going to "hell" while you are going to "heaven." That is a shoddy "truth."
What kind of universal principle, what kind of cosmic law would say, "If you don't believe this way, you are damned?" The nature of the universe is all-inclusive. That is another principle: the universe is all-inclusive. It includes everything. Life is all-inclusive. Just imagine what would occur if Life operated the way you do sometimes. For example, when you get mad at somebody, you cut them off, or speak harshly to them, or wish they would die. What would occur if Life operated that way?
You may not think Life is fair, but I know Life is fair. Life meets the needs of itself, and these needs don't always fit neatly into your little packages that say, "This is what will make me happy, so I want Life to be this way." Life is going to be the way it is. Life does not care what you want, or what you think you need. Life does not care about "you." Life cares about Life. And as long as you remain Life, Life cares about "You." The moment you become separate, egotistical, judgmental, or jealous, you begin to cut yourself off from Life. Life does not cut you off. The moment you come back to your senses, Life is there. It did not go anywhere; it stayed right there. After a while you learn the principle: Life is always there. It is just that YOU go away sometimes. You get confused, you have a misperception or a misunderstanding.
Life is patience. Life has all the time in existence. That is a long, long time! Life is eternal; it keeps happening. This is another principle: no matter what humanity does to this earth, no matter how bad things get here, it won't destroy Life. But the consequence may be that it is no longer the kind of life you appreciate living. Sometimes in human history, people had to claw at the ground for a living, even eating bugs to survive. Yes, that was still Life, but it is not the kind of existence you have grown accustomed to.
The alternative is to wake up, to awaken to these possibilities, to see what we as human beings can begin to do through our knowing--knowing that something is possible, that there is a bigger event taking place, that humans have the capacity, the potential to reach a higher level of existence, to live in a realm of awareness that is so connected that you would not think about harming or depriving or withholding, that your compassion and patience would override any form of separation, doubt, or fear, that you would so touch Life, in every aspect, in every way, that you would be love. Not conditional love, but unconditional love.
Most humans have had an experience, perhaps a small opportunity to experience love, in some way, some fashion. It may not have been long-lived, but just about everyone has had some experience of it. Call it a chemical release, or a brain function, or an emotion--it doesn't matter, you had an experience. Somewhere along the way, you have loved. That is the universe's way of giving you a taste of your true identity.
Unconditional love is a weird phenomenon to humans. In human "love," you love someone as long as they love you back, as long as they do what you want them to do, as long as they remain "lovable" according to your ideal.
Universal love is not that. Human love is just your initial sense of a greater possibility. Human love sort of gives you a taste, to begin to see what it is like. The loss of that love is also important, because that lets you know what it is like not to have it. Then of course you want it back.
Imagine that you saw everything through the context of unconditional love, Is-ness, that you, in every moment, were becoming love, being love. You have had a taste of it. The next step is BECOMING it. That is the major focus, the major intention, the major direction of Life: to establish a vehicle of love.
